9/10 Worth watching I almost quit series a couple of times because it is very long., 40 plus episodes. But it keeps you coming back. Cast is very good. I felt sorry for the lead actress for her agonizing scenes, hoping she got to laugh or smile after daily shoots. Last episode I've watched several times. Permalink 9/10 An Underrated Classic Which Will Be Ageless ... a A Stellar Production All Round with a Brilliant Cast, Excellent Screenplay & Scripting ... showcasing the interplay & development of four Relationships played out amid the backdrop of sufficiently engaging Corporate intrigues & rivalry in modern Shanghai. Undergirded by a seamlessly executed OST which heightened the chemistry between the main lead couple is deliciously palpable. Meeting again after 7 yrs following a crushing breakup for reasons that remained nebulous, audiences are then drip fed the reason over the next 48 episodes. The angst, restraint, longing ... Exquisite. FF Button was a helpful friend during the first viewing for a quick overview of the main storyline ... but this is where the rewatch value comes in, one then finds that one needs to go back to the other sections to mine for answers that are hidden "slow released" in the dialogue - to patch the not appeal to every demographic, likely the over 30s set with a high urban bias with patience for dialogues. But there is good depth and thought in the scripting and storytelling. Artistic licence and a respect for cultural tearingly frustrating in parts with things left unsaid or the unhelpful naggings, hilariously funny in others, loyalties tested in friendships, dilemmas, melting tender moments, cunning moves, fierce competition, love. & corporate rivalry, sabotage & betrayal, personal insecurities and regression, regrets & resolutions ... there really wasn't any part in the script that was cringeworthy though admittedly the "again" breakup in Ep 44 1817 was unnecessary I thought. A Hollywood ending in 30 episodes could've gained it higher scores perhaps. A little protracted. The ending was slightly flat and corny compared to the velvety crescendo midway. Eps 28-30However in hindsight, true to intention in storytelling, one could see how the latter 18 episodes was "needed" for all the subplots to fully unfold and various relationships to ripen. Diverse, believable and relational content between love interests, siblings, family friends, colleagues, business associates and rivals...Great script. acting, setting, hairdstyles, complexion & makeup, costumes, handbags ... Permalink 9/10 Awesome chemistry between the 2 main leads! This is the 3rd drama from Hans Zhang - Boss & me, Sunshine of my life & this. All 3 are fantastic. So far in Sunshine of my life is the best due its plot & swoonworthy, he has the most beautiful female lead & luckily here he has also a beautiful female chinese drama that contain unrequited love, back-stabbing, deceit & a shame truly sad that women are portrayed as such no dignity, no self-confidence & no a long drama & some scenes are draggy & long. I fast forward some scenes that are not related to the 2 main scenes are just of the 2 main leads Nanxian & WenNuan talk like an adult, they go on defend, silent treatment & but will not rewatch. 1 out of 1 found this helpful. Permalink 5/10 Too much of a marathon Warning Spoilers The main problem with this series is the we meet Wen Nuan and Nanxian they appear to be in their late twenties - early Nuan was born in makes her 18 and Nanxian about she ran away to London 7 years would make her 11 years old and Nanxian about incompetence by the even have her celebrating the day she and Nanxian broke on her return she deliberately joins Nanxian's company to be near him - but she holds him at arm's length constantly. He is frustrated by her - but he calls her "chess piece" which doesn't speak of true love to me - rather that he is using her as a business mother of course is a fly in the appointment and blames Wen Nuan's break up with Nanxian for her husband's death in a plane crash. He was returning home because he heard of the break up. Nobody pointed out to her that it was Wen Nuan's sister Wenro who was the cause of everything that happened we supposed to accept that?Why do writer's have such contempt for the intelligence and analytical ability of their audience?Nanxian for some noble reason is having a fake relationship with Nuan's ex best school friend -Yixin - a better name for her might be VIXEN - who is of course in love with Nanxian and who does every nasty thing in her power to get Nuan fired from her job. I fast forward through far too many filler episodes of endless boardroom talks and girly chats that did very little to drive the plot forward. It took far too long for the lovers to eventually get together and the end result of Yixin's change of heart which resulted in Nanxian pretending to marry her was just too silly for words. Wenro's relationship was completely implausible - but the young man was will probably enjoy a lot of it - if you don't question too much and accept the many implausibilities.. 1 out of 1 found this helpful. Permalink 5/10 Disappointing I watched all 48 it only felt like 96 episodes. As with all on these type shows with a long run, the first 3-5 are introducing characters with the weaknesses and sometimes strengths. After the initial phase, it got mildly interesting. The I lost the thread completely around epi 10 or 12. It was a uncoordinated mismash of junk for the next 20 or so epis. I found some interest after that. Did it end up strong, no. Just some interest. Some of the characters were fairly interesting, and some of the plot interests were occasionally compelling. Permalink 9/10 Loved Nuan and Xianxian I really liked this show, the actors were great ..the couples were prefect for each other .. just wish that we could have seen wen nuan and xianxian get married have a baby a happily after, after going thru so much ... also why didn't Linlu end with anyone ? Permalink 8/10 Shorter would have been better Warning Spoilers I watched this as I had enjoyed Zhang Hans other dramas Boss and Me and Sunshine of my life. This drama was too long and would have been much better had it been shorter. The main premise is that Zhang Han Nanxian and Janice Chang Wen Naun had been madly in love when she suddenly dumps him, won't tell him why and disappears off to England for years aided by her friend Linlu Jing Chao. During the 7 years Nanxian is supported by BonYixin Jenny Zhang. Yixin is in love with Nanxian who has never gotten over losing Wen Naun and Linlu is in love with Wen Naun returns to China and takes a job as assistant to Nanxian why would you do that and the story begins and goes on and on and on!I certainly didn't dislike this series but did skip through quite a number of episodes. Zhang Hans as always is excellent but compared with the chemistry between him and the FL in Here to Heart the chemistry in this one fell flat and I actually wanted him to end up with Yixin!There are some very good business dilemmas in this which made it more interesting. Permalink 9/10 Addictive angsty drama This drama got me hooked from episode 1, the moment seemingly cold and ruthless CEO Zhan Nanxian Hans Zhang told himself, "you'll get Wen Nuan back". Seven years ago, Wen Nuan Janine Chang broke up with Nanxian for unexplained reasons and left for UK. Now she is back in Shanghai and somehow gets a job in sales in Nanxian's company. Against her judgement, even after she lied that her boyfriend is Zhu Linlu Jing Chao, her most supportive friend who happens to be the general manager of a competitor company, she gets promoted to be Nanxian's would normally avoid this kind of drama, full of angst with a female lead whose instinctive response to problems is to clam up and flee. And Nanxian is not blameless either. Why have such a high-profile actress, Bo Yixin Jenny Zhang, for a girlfriend if he intended to get Nuan back? And Yixin used to be Wen Nuan's best friend too, so the betrayal was doubly painful for Nuan. But I couldn't stop watching even though it gets draggy sometimes. There is just something compelling about Nanxian's formidable yet haunted and lonely CEO character that makes you want him to get the I'm so glad I stuck it out. Permalink 1/10 Utterly surprised this show got good reviews I stopped watching after the 2nd episode and here is whyObviously the writers were really bad. Poor dialogues, so cheesy that actually it made me smile. More importantly the plot doesn't make sense at all. Lead Female is sent by, present boyfriend, to London for 7 years bring her back. She doesn't work in his company and instead joins the company of her ex bf. Weird...I would expect a loving woman to join her bf to help him expand his business. But nope. On top of that she knows that both companies are fierce competitors. Both guys and her who are supposed to be experienced execs have no clue of what conflict of interests mean!!! Unbelievable...that already was enough to kill the plot and the show. This does not happen in the real world whole show gives a feeling that the whole crew of a bad novella were given a decent production budget but still end up making a show that reeks bad taste the nouveau riche way. Guys and girls wear clothes that are supposed to be classy but are actually the acting is awful. They are all stereotyped characters. The directing of the scenes were more theatrical than tried to give a sense high society world but end up looking quite the gave one point because surprisingly the 2 episodes it was so bad that it made me laugh. 0 out of 1 found this helpful.
